Customs Duties
Important Notice Regarding Customs Duties
When products are
shipped overseas, customs duties, import taxes, or customs clearance fees may be
charged by the customs authorities of the destination country or region.Customs regulations and tax standards vary greatly
depending on each country or region, and our store is unable to predict or
guarantee whether such charges will occur or what the amounts may be.
Before
placing your order, please check the customs regulations applicable in your
country or region. Please note that any customs duties, import taxes, or
related fees will be the responsibility of the recipient.
About
Customs Declarations & Fees
■ DAP (Delivered At Place) — Duties Paid by
Recipient Under DAP terms, customs duties will be paid later by the recipient
(buyer). Currently, our company does not support prepaid customs duties (DDP) for either Japan Post or DHL.
■ Accurate Item Declarations
We use AI and our extensive
shipping experience to prepare legal and compliant item declarations.
■ No
Undervaluation We do not undervalue packages for the purpose of avoiding
customs duties or fees.
■ Method of Declaring the Amount
- FOB price
refers to “the cost of the goods only.”
- CIF price refers to “the cost of the
goods, insurance, and freight.”
As a general rule, we declare the value
based on the FOB price. However, depending on the country or the customer’s
instructions, we may also declare it using the CIF price.
■ Is it
considered a “gift” or “commercial/sale of goods”?
We often receive requests asking us to mark items as
gifts, and there are times when we declare them as such. However, given the
current global customs situation, marking a shipment as a gift generally does
not significantly reduce customs duties anymore.
■
Country of Origin: Japan For secondhand items
without a clearly stated country of origin, we declare Japan. This is based
on their status as secondary distribution goods that have circulated and been
inspected within Japan.
■ Special Instructions
If you require any special
instructions for customs declarations, please inform us in advance.
Additional Fees by Shipping Method
Japan Post (EMS)
For shipments sent via Japan Post that exceed
200,000 JPY in value, it is necessary to delegate the customs declaration to the customs officers at the International Post Office. An additional
export customs clearance fee of 2,800 JPY will be charged. Accurate declarations are required for each individual item. If the total value exceeds 200,000
JPY, we recommend splitting the shipment whenever possible. This fee must be paid in advance and will be added to your final
invoice.
DHL Multiline Entry Fees We use AI and our expertise to
prepare item declarations so that DHL’s Multiline Entry fee can be avoided
whenever possible. DHL applies an 800 JPY Multiline Entry fee when the
package contains six or more declared item lines.

DHL and Japan Post
Differences Between DHL and Japan Post EMS
Japan Post’s EMS and ePacket Light determine shipping costs based on weight, while DHL calculates its rates using volumetric weight (a value that converts the package’s dimensions/volume into weight). In addition, factors such as monthly fuel surcharges affect DHL pricing, so we do not provide a fixed rate table.
We generally pack items using DHL Box 2 (~2 kg) and Box 4 (~5 kg) as our standard sizes.
Please rest assured that both Japan Post and DHL shipping fees are charged based on the actual cost.
Regarding Safety and Reliability DHL can consistently track and manage your package until it reaches the customer.
On the other hand, once an EMS shipment leaves Japan, it falls under the control of the destination country’s postal service, and Japan Post has no ability to manage or control the package. If the postal service in your country does not perform well, we recommend using DHL.
